Jim tests melting points in organic chemistry"I know you're a chemist but what do you do?"  There are as many answers to this question as there are practicing chemists (over 100,000 in the U.S. alone).  Chemists work in government as researchers, policy officers, environmental scientists and policy analysts/makers.  Chemists are found as teachers at all levels from elementary school through graduate school.  Chemists work in industry in fields as diverse as automobile manufacturing to cutting edge biotechnology or environmental protection.  Chemists are attorneys, business managers, marketing strategists, environmental engineers, and company presidents.  The only limit is your imagination.

Ben and Nick wear PPE as part of 40-hr Hazwoper Course"Chemistry IS for you!"  We would enjoy the opportunity to discuss careers in the chemical sciences with you. Please call or send an email for more information, or you might like to have one of our faculty contact you directly.  If you can visit campus we would like to show you our excellent facilities and to discuss some of the exciting research projects now underway with our students.

"Won't you join us?"  The chemistry department at Lake Superior State University provides a great environment in which to work and learn with others.  Our faculty are ready to work with you to achieve your academic and professional goals.  Our state-of-the-art chemical instrumentation is here for you to use, preparing the hands-on experiences needed to help you be a valuable and valued member of our profession after graduation.
